Tamil Nadu election 2026: Sarath Kumar flags lack of roles for him in BJP, voices concern over unfulfilled assurances
R. Sarath Kumar, the actor-politician who merged his All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi (AISMK) with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in March 2024, expressed dissatisfaction over the lack of responsibilities given to him and his supporters despite assurances made during the merger. He stated that while his supporters have been appointed to 19 State-level office-bearer positions out of the 251 sought, only a quarter of them have received postings. Kumar plans to submit a written letter to both the National and State high command regarding these concerns and hopes for their resolution. He also stated he has no intention to revive the AISMK or contest in the upcoming Assembly elections if offered a ticket.
