Karnataka bypolls: Congress keeps it within family; nominates Umesh Meti and Samarth Mallikarjun
Congress has finalized its nominees for the upcoming bypolls in Karnataka. Umesh Meti, son of former minister H.Y. Meti, will contest from Bagalkot and Samarth Mallikarjun, grandson of Shamanur Shivashankarappa, will fight from Davangere. The party leadership chose to support Umesh Meti for the Bagalkot seat after a family dispute over the ticket. The nomination filing for both seats is scheduled for March 23rd.
