Omar, Mehbooba slam closure of Jama Masjid on Id, Hazratbal prayer omission for Iran, Palestine

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti criticized the closure of the historic Jama Masjid in Srinagar for Id prayers, while also expressing concern over the omission of special prayers for Iran, Palestine, and Lebanon from the Hazratbal shrine. The Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid, the caretaker body of the mosque, alleged that restrictions were imposed on congregational prayers at the historic site. Kashmir chief cleric Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was allegedly placed under house arrest, while J&K Waqf Board head Darakshan Andrabi faced criticism for dropping Iran, Palestine, and Lebanon from special prayers.
