Don’t remove any genuine voter from electoral rolls, parliamentary committee tells EC

A Parliamentary Standing Committee has urged the Election Commission of India to ensure fair and inclusive electoral roll revisions, particularly for vulnerable groups like senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and migrant populations. The committee's report highlights concerns raised by political parties in West Bengal regarding voter deletions during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. While SIR is complete in 11 states and Union Territories, preparations are underway for 22 others. The committee recommends robust monitoring mechanisms to ensure data privacy and security while enhancing transparency.
