Suvendu Adhikari accuses Mamata of poll code violation, demands EC action
Abuse of power by a CM using official resources for political gain is a serious concern.
Suvendu Adhikari, leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, accused Mamata Banerjee, Chief Minister of West Bengal, of violating the Model Code of Conduct by using her official letterhead for political correspondence. He demanded action from the Election Commission and criticized the removal of government hoardings featuring Ms. Banerjee. Ms. Banerjee, in turn, wrote to the Chief Election Commissioner expressing "deep shock" over the functioning of the poll panel and alleging unilateral transfers of senior officials. The West Bengal Assembly elections will be held in two phases on April 23 and 29 with counting scheduled for May 4.
