Ali Larijani — Iran’s ultimate backroom powerbroker - World
Ali Larijani, a veteran Iranian politician and architect of the country's security policy, was assassinated by a US-Israeli air strike while visiting his daughter in Tehran. He served as head of Iran’s national broadcaster, Supreme National Security Council, and played a key role in nuclear negotiations with the West. Larijani advocated for diplomacy and moderation but was also involved in suppressing protests in January. He had close ties to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, his family connections, and Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. His death has led to international condemnation of Iran's government.
