Kerala Assembly Polls 2026: CPI declares candidates for Assembly polls in Kerala

The Communist Party of India (CPI) announced its list of candidates for the upcoming Kerala Legislative Assembly election on Sunday, March 15, 2026. The party renominated all four of its incumbent Ministers: K. Rajan (Ollur), P. Prasad (Cherthala), J. Chinchurani (Chadayamangalam), and G.R. Anil (Nedumangad). The list, which includes five women and one Independent candidate, represents the party's participation in the Left Democratic Front (LDF) coalition. CPI State secretary Binoy Viswam announced the candidates during a press conference in Thiruvananthapuram. The party will contest in 25 constituencies, with E.T. Taison, the incumbent legislator in Kaipamangalam, being fielded in the Paravoor constituency where sitting MLA and Leader of Opposition V.D. Satheesan is expected to contest. The other candidates represent a diverse range of constituencies across the state. Viswam expressed optimism that the LDF would secure victory against both the United Democratic Front (UDF) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), highlighting their alleged political alliance in opposition to the LDF. He believes these parties, despite appearing as separate entities, often collaborate politically when facing the LDF.
