Kerala Assembly polls 2026 | UDF united and ready for polls: Ramesh Chennithala

Ramesh Chennithala, senior Congress leader, asserted that the United Democratic Front (UDF) is fully prepared for the upcoming Assembly election and a change of government is inevitable. He dismissed concerns about delays in candidate selection, attributing them to the late announcement of the poll schedule. The decision on whether Members of Parliaments will contest the Assembly election rests with the party high command, he clarified. G. Sudhakaran, former Minister, will have his candidacy decided soon after consultations within the UDF alliance. Chennithala maintained that the UDF approaches the election with confidence but without overconfidence. He accused the Pinarayi Vijayan-led government of attempting to mislead the public through a series of decisions taken in the final cabinet meetings, claiming these were not meant for implementation but to deceive the people. He criticized the government's recent land title distribution and extensive newspaper advertisements as election tactics, asserting that the people will not fall for such maneuvers. The UDF leader also alleged that the CPI(M) is currently facing its worst internal crisis in the state, with leaders leaving the party and prominent figures openly opposing it. He further accused the government of failing to maintain law and order in the state, stating that law and order has completely collapsed, leaving the situation uncontrolled by anyone.
