Government bars PNG users from retaining or refilling LPG connections
## India Tightens LPG Supply Amidst West Asia Tensions To ensure a steady supply of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for domestic consumers, the Indian government has implemented new regulations. Individuals with piped natural gas (PNG) connections will no longer be able to obtain new LPG connections or refill existing ones. They must also surrender their domestic LPG connection. This move comes as India's imports of cooking gas have been disrupted due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial shipping route for these supplies. The government has increased domestic LPG production by 31% and is urging commercial users who can switch from LPG to PNG to do so. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has also directed oil marketing companies to prioritize supplying cooking gas to domestic consumers.
