Infra likely to be focus of Telangana 2026-27 budget as Govt trying to balance welfare and development

Telangana's government is prioritizing infrastructure development in the upcoming 2026-27 budget, aiming to attract investments and boost economic growth. The government faces challenges due to lower-than-expected revenue receipts and significant interest payments from previous loans. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to allocate maximum funds to key infrastructure projects like the Bharat Future City, Hyderabad Metro Rail expansion, and Radial Roads. Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka is reviewing department-wise allocations based on government priorities. The state government is also seeking central assistance through special programs like the capital investment scheme for infrastructure development.
