LPG shortage hits crematoria in city, contractors struggle to book supplies

Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) contractors operating crematoria are facing difficulties securing LPG cylinders due to a nationwide supply disruption. The shortage has led to limited availability at distributor godowns, with some facilities having only three or five cylinders in stock. Contractors report that distributors are not accepting new bookings for the coming days and are demanding higher prices from private suppliers. The GCC is working to secure bulk bookings with gas agencies to ensure an uninterrupted supply of LPG to crematoria across the city.
