Manipur BJP unit protests against Central and State BJP for inaction in MLA’s death
An elected official died due to violence and there's inaction from the ruling party.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unit from Thanlon in Manipur's Churachandpur district protested against the central BJP and State BJP for failing to ensure justice for their MLA Vungzagin Valte, who died after being assaulted during ethnic violence. Valte, a Zomi tribe member representing the Thanlon constituency, was attacked on May 4, 2023, and his body is currently being preserved at the Churachandpur District Hospital. The family and community leaders have refused to bury Valte until their demands for an NIA probe and political solution are met. The protest highlights concerns about accountability for the assault and raises questions about the state of justice in Manipur.
