Second part of Budget Session all set for stormy start

The second part of the Budget Session of Parliament is set to resume on March 9, 2026, with a debate over a motion to remove Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. The resolution has been signed by 118 Opposition members and will be debated in the absence of Speaker Birla, who will be permitted to attend but not preside. The ruling NDA is expected to maintain its majority and defeat the motion, as it lacks the necessary support under Article 94(c) of the Constitution. The opposition INDIA bloc hopes to press their point during public discourse despite the likelihood of the motion failing.
