New bodies for upliftment of deprived communities
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced several initiatives in his 17th Budget to uplift marginalized communities. These include the formation of Karnataka Adivasi Development Corporation, a Scheduled Tribes Commission, and a Buddhist Development Corporation. The budget also allocated ₹100 crore for the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Nomadic and Semi-nomadic Development Corporation. Additionally, four special residential schools with CBSE curriculum will be established in revenue divisions, named after Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. To support the ST community, fast-food truck trailers/mobile kitchen food kiosks will be provided. Finally, ten working women's hostels for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes women will be built across various cities.
