Budget 2026: Transportation subsidy for North Karnataka sericulture farmers doubled to ₹20 per kg

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced a doubling of the transportation subsidy for sericulture farmers in north Karnataka, from ₹10 to ₹20 per kg, during the State Budget presentation. This measure aims to encourage sericulture in the region and secure better prices for farmers' produce. Mr. Siddaramaiah also highlighted plans to establish Chawki Rearing Centres (CRCs) in collaboration with FPOs and Silk Parks across various districts to promote the sector and increase accessibility to young silkworms. The government has already provided ₹531 crore in subsidies over the past three years for sericulture development activities.
