Karnataka Budget proposes new hostels, minority residential schools and education support schemes

The Karnataka government announced a series of initiatives in its 2026–27 Budget to strengthen educational opportunities and support for minority communities. These include establishing new post-matric hostels, starting ten new Sant Shishunala Shariff Residential Schools, upgrading existing schools, and providing training for competitive exams. The budget also allocates funds for the development of learning centers, citizen service centers, women's hostels, and fast food truck trailers for minority youth. Furthermore, initiatives include translating Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s works into Urdu, constructing Haj Bhavans in Hubballi and Kalaburagi, and upgrading 31 women's PU colleges under Waqf institutions.
