
CPI(M) expels P.K. Sasi
CPI(M) expelled dissident P.K. Sasi from the party following his appearance at a meeting of dissidents in Palakkad. E.N. Suresh Kumar, the district secretary, announced the expulsion. Sasi had previously been demoted from the district committee to branch level and criticized the current leadership for not caring for its cadres. He reportedly made a deal with the United Democratic Front (UDF) to contest the Assembly election as an independent candidate.
