Ashok threatens to launch ‘Save Mysuru Silk’ campaign if Govt. does not drop stadium project at KSIC unit in T. Narsipura

R. Ashok, leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly, joined protesting employees of the Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation (KSIC) filature factory in T. Narsipura. He threatened to launch a "Save Mysuru Silk" campaign against the construction of a stadium on the factory premises and vowed to raise the issue in the upcoming Budget session of the State Legislature. Ashok questioned why the government was pushing for the project, alleging that it was intended to benefit a Congress leader who runs a large reeling unit and to close down the KSIC filature factory. He also criticized the transfer of profits from the factory to BESCOM and alleged that officials had spent ₹ 1.5 crore on foreign trips while claiming the factory made a profit of ₹ 96 crore last year.
