NCERT textbook ‘rewrite’ was an ‘RSS-driven exercise’: Congress
Potential manipulation of education for political agenda raises serious concerns.
The Congress accused the Centre of orchestrating an "RSS-driven exercise" in rewriting school textbooks, claiming the Supreme Court is rightfully agitated over critical references to the judiciary. A three-judge bench ordered the seizure of all copies of a banned Class 8 NCERT social science textbook and issued show-cause notices to the NCERT Director and the Secretary, Department of School Education. The NCERT subsequently withdrew the book from its website and apologized for "inappropriate content", stating it would be rewritten.
