Ahead of Assembly poll, various associations put forth several demands

Tamil Nadu's various worker groups are protesting for better working conditions and job security ahead of the Assembly election. The Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation (TNCSC) computer operators, who have been working on contract since 2009, demand permanent employment after a pay cut. The Tamil Nadu Qualified Yoga Teachers’ Association is seeking payment for 2023-24 and 2024-25 wages after the state government failed to honor an Ayushman Bharat scheme commitment. The 2018 Motor Vehicle Inspector Grade II Examiners’ Association demands provisional selection orders for those who passed their exams in 2018. The Tamil Nadu Regulated Market Committee Weigh Labourers’ Union is calling for permanent jobs and benefits for over 20,000 workers who have been employed as daily wage laborers since the British era.
