CM Pinarayi condemns KSU attack on Veena George; CPI(M), LDF, SFI call for Statewide protests

Urgent Civic Alert: power abuse

Physical assault on a minister is a serious abuse of power.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan condemned the attack on Health Minister Veena George by members of the Kerala Students’ Union (KSU), who allegedly assaulted her at Kannur Railway Station. The incident occurred during a protest against Ms. George, who was traveling to Thiruvananthapuram. Speaker A.N. Shamseer, and other leaders, including CPI(M) State secretary M.V. Govindan and General Education Minister V. Sivankutty, condemned the attack and blamed the Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan for inciting violence against Ms. George. The incident has sparked calls for a statewide protest by the Students’ Federation of India (SFI), with Left Democratic Front (LDF) convenor T.P. Ramakrishnan urging clarity from the opposition.
