Political parties to scrutinise voters’ list amid doubts over SIR deletions
Political parties, including the Congress and the CPI(M), are planning to scrutinize the final voter rolls following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) which deleted over 1.83 lakh names from the registry in the district. The scrutiny will focus on three urban constituencies with high deletion rates, particularly Ernakulam, Thrikkakara, and Thripunithura, all held by the Congress-led UDF. T.J. Vinod, an MLA from Ernakulam, expressed concern over a large number of voters being listed as absent, shifted, or dead despite not returning enumeration forms. Anoop Jacob, a leader of Kerala Congress (J), also raised doubts about the deletion of voters in his constituency.
