
PM Modi flags off Meerut Metro, Namo Bharat train
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the Delhi Meerut Namo Bharat corridor and the Meerut Metro, marking a significant step towards high-speed intercity travel and swift intra-city movement. The projects are worth ₹12,930 crore and will connect major urban centers in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh with a design speed of 180 km per hour for the Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS). The inauguration also included the dedication of various development projects in Meerut, including the 5 km section between Sarai Kale Khan and New Ashok Nagar in Delhi and the 21 km section between Meerut South and Modipuram in Uttar Pradesh. Modi also flagged off the Meerut Metro services between Meerut South and Modipuram.
