DMK, BJP trade barbs over RSS history, NEET in the Assembly
During an Assembly debate on the Interim Budget and Agriculture Interim Budget, BJP State unit president Nainar Nagenthran defended the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as a nationalist organization. However, other members of the assembly, including DMK leaders, criticized the RSS for its alleged involvement in Mahatma Gandhi's assassination and questioned the need to debate its role. Congress leader K. Selvaperunthagai highlighted Gandhi's role in the freedom struggle and offered to send a book on his assassination to the BJP’s office. Minister P.K. Sekarbabu pointed out that V.D. Savarkar, who the BJP was celebrating, was an accused in the conspiracy trial for Gandhiji's assassination.
