
BJP captures Karimnagar Municipal Corporation, strengthens its grip over political nerve centre of north Telangana
The BJP won control of the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation (MCK) in indirect elections, securing both the Mayor and Deputy Mayor posts. The party secured 30 out of 66 seats, with newly elected corporators Kolagani Srinivas and Y. Sunil Rao taking on the roles of Mayor and Deputy Mayor respectively. The BRS abstained from voting, while the Congress received support from 14 members, three AIMIM members, and four independents. The BJP's victory was celebrated by party supporters in Karimnagar with Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay participating in the celebrations.
