Opposition parties slam Tamil Nadu CM Stalin’s ₹5,000 payout to women under Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme
Edappadi K. Palaniswami, leader of the AIADMK, criticized M.K. Stalin, Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister, for announcing a ₹5,000 credit to 1.31 crore women beneficiaries under the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai scheme. Palaniswami accused Stalin of making the announcement out of fear of losing the upcoming Assembly election and questioned the timing of the move given that the AIADMK had previously promised similar benefits. T.T.V. Dhinakaran, general secretary of the AMMK, also criticized the announcement, calling it a "cheating act" motivated by DMK's fear of defeat.
