General strike against Labour Codes nearly complete in Ernakulam
A nationwide general strike called by ten central trade unions against the implementation of new Labour Codes and other labor-related laws was nearly complete in Ernakulam district. Public transport remained halted, forcing people to rely on private vehicles. The Left Democratic Front suspended its Vikasana Munnetta Jatha in solidarity with the strike, which saw protest rallies and sit-ins across the district. Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) all India general secretary Elamaram Kareem criticized the Congress for not joining the strike jointly and accused mainstream media of downplaying workers' issues.
