‘State has committed a crime against Imran’: Opposition lashes out over PTI founder’s reported vision loss - Pakistan
The PTI and the opposition alliance TTAP are criticizing the treatment of former Prime Minister Imran Khan in prison, alleging negligence and a deliberate attempt to harm his health. The Supreme Court was informed that Khan has 15% vision left in his right eye after months of denied medical attention. PTI officials have demanded an independent medical board be formed, access to Khan's personal physicians, and the release of Imran Khan. They also claim the Islamabad High Court is involved in this matter, while the PTI has called for international human rights organizations to intervene. The PTI leader Hammad Azhar stated that the lack of timely treatment led to Khan’s vision loss, while Haleem Adil Sheikh demanded his immediate release. Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar, TTAP leader, condemned the treatment as torture and argued it violates international laws.
