'Point-blank' video row: Supreme Court to hear CPI(M) petition on Assam CM’s controversial gun video
The Supreme Court agreed to schedule an urgent hearing on a petition filed by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) alleging that Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma engaged in hate speech and inciting hostility against the Muslim community. The petition, which accused Sarma of delivering speeches and making statements that degrade and demean Muslims, also cited a social media post depicting him discharging a firearm at two Muslim men as evidence of his actions. The court agreed to set a date for the hearing after Advocate Nizam Pasha requested an early date.
