Trade unions call for strike on February 12
Joint Committee of Trade Unions and the State-led United Struggle, Karnataka called for a nationwide strike on February 12 to protest against four labor codes and several proposed policies. Mahesh Pattar, state secretary of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), stated that the strike is being organized by workers and farmers’ organizations and will oppose the weakening of labor protections and social security measures. Mr. Pattar urged the State government to withdraw the notifications for the implementation of the codes and take a stand similar to that of Kerala.
