CPI(M) slams Indo–U.S. trade deal as ‘attack on sovereignty’
The Communist Party of India (Marxist) strongly criticized the Union Government for signing an Indo-U.S. trade agreement, calling it a "shameful surrender" that threatens India's economic security and sovereignty. The party argued that the deal grants sweeping concessions to the United States, including zero-tariff access for U.S. agricultural products, which would harm Indian farmers. The CPI(M) also expressed concern over dismantling non-tariff barriers on food and agricultural goods and India's deepening dependence on U.S. defense supplies. The party demanded full transparency of the agreement and urged the government to prioritize the interests of Indian workers, farmers, and the wider population.
