Manipur’s Churachandpur limps back to normalcy after two days of protests

Normalcy returned to parts of Manipur's Churachandpur district on Saturday morning following two days of protests sparked by the formation of a government in which three BJP legislators from the Kuki-Zo and Hmar communities joined Meitei MLAs. The demonstrations were largely confined to the Tuibong and Kangvai areas, while rallies took place in other districts. Two tribal bodies imposed a "total shutdown" in Churachandpur, and the Zomi Council summoned the legislators who joined the government to appear before its office within three days.
