White House releases Joint Statement on India-U.S. interim trade deal
The White House and India released a joint statement outlining a framework for an interim trade agreement. The agreement includes commitments from both countries to eliminate or reduce tariffs on U.S. industrial goods, food products, and agricultural items like dried distillers’ grains. President Donald Trump rescinded 25% additional tariffs imposed on Indian oil imports in exchange for India's commitment to stop buying Russian oil. The agreement also includes commitments from both countries to provide preferential market access in sectors of respective interest. The United States will impose a reciprocal tariff of 18% on Indian goods, down from the previous 25%.
