S.S. Rajagopalan, a renowned educationist who played a key role in the development of the Samacheer Kalvi (Tamil Nadu Uniform System of School Education) scheme, passed away at 95 in Chennai on Tuesday. He dedicated his life to advocating for equitable education and championed mother tongue instruction and neighborhood schools. P.B. Prince Gajendra Babu, general secretary of the State Platform for Common School System – Tamil Nadu, expressed grief over Rajagopalan's passing, noting his belief that students deserved equal educational opportunities. Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, the current School Education Minister, also mourned the loss and highlighted Rajagopalan's commitment to student welfare.
