Opposition stages walkout, boycotts Kerala Assembly proceedings
UDF members staged a walkout and boycotted the proceedings of the Kerala Legislative Assembly after Speaker A.N. Shamseer disallowed their notice for an adjournment motion on granting parole to a CPI(M) councillor serving a 20-year prison sentence. The Opposition, led by V.D. Satheesan, argued that the issue raised concerns law and order in the state and questioned why such discussions were not allowed when the government was facing inconvenient situations. Minister for Local Self-Governments M.B. Rajesh countered, stating the parole was granted on January 8, 2026, and the Opposition had not raised the issue earlier.
