Union Budget 2026: Jammu and Kashmir fund allocation ‘marginally’ up; Ladakh sees around 27% increase

Shakeel Qalander, member of the Federation of Chambers of Industries Kashmir (FCIK), stated that the modest increase falls short of addressing the region's developmental needs. While some political leaders, such as Minister Satish Sharma from the National Conference, criticized the allocation as insufficient, others like Rahul Sahai, chairman of the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industries-J&K, viewed it positively. The budget also received support from Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and BJP leaders, who emphasized its focus on economic growth and infrastructure development.
