Budget 2026: ₹4,551 crore for I-B Ministry; funds for Prasar Bharati, to support radio movement
The Information and Broadcasting Ministry received a budget of ₹4551.94 crore in the Union Budget 2026-27, with significant allocations for Prasar Bharati, talent development in animation, visual effects, gaming, and comics (AVGC), and community radio support. The budget also includes funding for government media units like the Central Bureau of Communication, Press Information Bureau, Publications Division, New Media Wing, Electronic Media Monitoring Centre, and Broadcasting Infrastructure Network Development. Prasar Bharati will receive ₹2291.88 crore for salary and pension expenses, while Film and Television Institute of India, Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI), and the Indian Institute of Mass Communication are allocated substantial amounts for development and research.
