Union Budget 2026: National Destination Digital Knowledge Grid to be set up

Nirmala Sitharaman, the Finance Minister of India, unveiled a new budget proposal for 2026-2027, aiming to integrate digital technology with India's heritage and cultural sites. The plan includes creating a "National Destination Digital Knowledge Grid" to document historical landmarks, potentially using 3D laser scans to improve documentation efforts. The initiative also aims to upskill 10,000 guides at iconic tourist sites through standardized training programs. Additionally, the budget proposes developing 15 archeological sites for public access, incorporating immersive storytelling and technologies to enhance visitor experiences.
