Budget 2026: Sitharaman proposes ₹10,000 crore investment in biopharma over next 5 years
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman proposed a ₹10,000 crore investment in the biopharma sector over five years to boost India's pharmaceuticals industry. The government will also support manufacturing, strategic and frontier sectors, healthcare, and advanced technology through interventions. The India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) will focus on producing equipment and materials designed for full-stack Indian IP. Sitharaman also announced support for mineral-rich states to establish critical mineral facilities as part of the "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas" initiative.
