Budget 2026: Odisha, T.N., Andhra, Kerala to get dedicated rare earth corridors to promote research and mining
Nirmala Sitharaman, the Union Finance Minister, proposed a new scheme to support mineral-rich states in establishing dedicated rare-earth corridors during her ninth consecutive budget presentation. The move aims to reduce India's dependence on China for rare-earth minerals and promote mining, processing, research, and manufacturing within the country. The initiative follows the approval of a ₹7,280 crore scheme in November 2025 to manufacture Rare Earth Permanent Magnets (REPM) in India.
