CPI(M) demands increase in rearing cost of broiler chicken

P. Shanmugam, state secretary of the CPI(M), called for a tripartite meeting involving broiler chicken farmers, poultry companies, and the Animal Husbandry Department to address rising chicken prices. He urged the government to convene the meeting immediately after farmers demanded an increase in rearing costs due to ongoing struggles. The last such meeting was held in September 2013, resulting in a 15% cost increase in 2013 and a further 5% increase in 2014.
