The High Court of Karnataka dismissed a petition by B.V. Rajeev Gowda, Congress leader, challenging an FIR registered against him for using abusive language and threatening the Sidlaghatta City Municipal Council (CMC) Commissioner. The court found that the language used by Mr. Gowda was intended to insult the dignity of a woman and could constitute an offense under Section 79 of the Bharatiya Nayaya Sanhita (BNS). The court also noted the need for stricter enforcement against unauthorized banners, placards, and flexes in cities.
