Reservation lottery marred by disruptions as BMC placed in open women category, instead of OBC

The Maharashtra Government’s Urban Development Department conducted a reservation lottery for the mayoral positions in 10 municipal corporations. Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders staged a walkout after the administration placed the Mumbai mayoral post in the open women category instead of the OBC category, which had already been reserved for women. The lottery resulted in various municipalities having their mayors from different categories, including Scheduled Tribe, Scheduled Caste, and Open Women.
