
Cracks appear in Punjab Congress over calls for Dalit representation in party by Channi
A video of former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi surfaced online, where he questioned the lack of Dalit representation in the Punjab Congress. Rajendra Gautam, chairman of the All India Congress Committee's SC department, accompanied Channi at the meeting. The matter is expected to be discussed during a party high command meeting on January 23rd. Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, Punjab Congress president, defended the party's commitment to secularism and asserted that Channi holds the "biggest post" in the party. Kewal Singh Dhillon, BJP leader, offered Channi an opportunity to join the BJP, claiming he would find dignity and respect.
