Kerala SIR: Deadline for filing claims and objections extended up to January 30
The Election Commission of India (EC) extended the deadline for filing claims and objections under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) electoral roll in Kerala until January 30. The decision followed a Supreme Court recommendation and a request from the Chief Electoral Officer (Kerala). CPI(M), however, criticized the errors found in the draft roll, claiming they are causing hardship to voters and potentially jeopardizing their right to vote. They urged the EC to address these issues promptly.
