Former CPI(M) MLA S. Rajendran joins BJP
S. Rajendran, a three-time MLA and former CPI(M) leader from Idukki district, joined the BJP on Sunday (January 18, 2026). He accepted membership from Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the BJP State president in Thiruvananthapuram. Rajendran had been suspended from the CPI(M) in 2022 for alleged attempts to defeat a party candidate.
