NCP factions led by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and his uncle Sharad Pawar have decided to contest the upcoming Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections together. The decision follows a recent defeat in the Pune civic elections, where the BJP outperformed both factions. Shashikant Shinde, Maharashtra unit president of NCP (SP), confirmed that the parties will contest 12 Zilla Parishads jointly.
