Profiling of mosques should not be viewed with suspicion: J&K Waqf Board chairperson

Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board chairperson Darakhshan Andrabi defended the police move to profile mosques in the Valley, stating that verification of religious properties is necessary for accountability. Altaf Thakur, a BJP spokesman, argued for transparency by investigating mosque funding, land ownership, and ideology. The Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU), an Islamic organization, opposed the profiling, describing it as intrusive. The ruling National Conference, PDP, J&K Peoples Conference, and CPI(M) also expressed opposition to the move.
