Assam Opposition files complaint against BJP over alleged voter list ‘conspiracy’
Opposition parties in Assam filed a police complaint against the BJP, alleging that it was conspiring to delete names from electoral rolls ahead of the Assembly elections. The complaint, filed by the Congress, CPI(M), Raijor Dal, Assam Jatiya Parishad, and CPI(ML)L, claims that Dilip Saikia, the state BJP president, instructed Ashok Singhal, a cabinet minister, to carry out the deletion process in 60 Legislative Assembly Constituencies. The opposition parties urged police to investigate and secure video footage of a Zoom meeting where this instruction was given.
