Shah, Patel launch India's first LNG-powered train after 2,000 km trials
On Sunday, Amit Shah and Bhupendra Patel launched India's first LNG-powered train from Sabarmati. The train uses a diesel-plus-LNG dual-fuel system in two 1,400 HP Driving Power Cars (DPCs) after over 2,000 km of trials. Each DPC has an LNG tank capable of holding around 850-900 kg of usable LNG, reducing fuel costs and emissions by up to 40% diesel replacement. The initiative is part of railway projects worth Rs 1,542 crore aimed at improving safety and infrastructure.
